INFORMATION RE WATERCOLOUR CLASSES 2008Afternoon classes will be offered for beginners in watercolour, beginning Jan. 30, and continuing oncea week on Wednesdays between 2:00 and 4:00. Five classes, (until Feb 27, 08) will cost $100.00Classes will be small, up to 6 students, and will be conducted at 1685 3rd Ave., Prince George.(This studio is called "Upstairs Art" and is located in Art Space, on the second floor of Books & Co.) SUGGESTED SUPPLIES FOR CLASSES DRAWING BOARD which will take staples, in size 1/2" larger that the size of paper to be used. (A full sheet of watercolour paper measures 22X30", so 1/4 of the sheet will be 11x15") STAPLES AND STAPLE GUN AND BROWN BUTCHER'S TAPE (the kind you wet to use) If using the above board with staples, you will need watercolour paper of at least 90lb or 140 lb. which may be stretched on the board. (I do have on hand some paper of 200 lb. which does not need to be stretched as a rule, and I can sell it at $5.00 per sheet.) If this is your choice, you need not have the heavier weight board or staples, but could use a lightweight support fasteded down with masking tape.) SKETCH BOOK (8X10" will be large enough) SPONGES for cleaning palette and natural sponge is nice for working on your painting. WHITE PALETTE (This can be as simple as a white plastic plate) MASKING FLUID PAINTS; Here I have good news for you. only three tubes of paint are necessary, IF THEY ARE: YELLOW: (a) WINSOR NEWTON cadmium yellow, or aureolin OR (b) COTMAN lemon MAGENTA: (a) WINSOR NEWTON permanent rose, OR (b) COTMAN permanent rose OR (c) DAVINCI permanent rose or red rose deep CYAN: (a) WINSOR NEWTON manganese blue or cerulean blue or winsor blue OR (b) COTMAN turquoise blue or intense blue OR (c) DAVINCI pthalo blue or manganese blue or cerulean blue genuine These are sold at SpeeDee Printer, and some of you may have them already. From these, you can mix any other colour you may need. Buy the largest tubes of them that you are able to get. Of course it is sometimes handy to buy other colours already mixed for you, but I recommend the practice of mixing your own. Some of you may have a supply of paints with which you are comfortable mixing colours....if so, bring these, and ty mixing colours to the colour wheel with your present paints.
