           June Swanky Parker

British Columbia has always been home to this artist, and wherever she has traveled, in USA, central America, and most recently, Southern France, she finds that B.C. offers enough inspiration for several painting lifetimes.

Her  desire to capture and share delight in the natural world of beauty led this artist to drawing and painting…it seems to be a natural

response and expression of gratitude to Creation itself.  Contemplating a beautiful flower or tree closely enough to attempt to convey its essence – well, that is a sermon in itself!

June studied art at the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, and in books and workshops offered by several accomplished teachers and artists, many under the auspices of the Federation of Canadian Artists.  Her family encouraged her longing to paint and draw from an early age, and gifted her with a summer at the School of Fine Arts in Banff, confirming a life-long passion for painting.

Recent works include many featuring flowers, (somewhat impressionistic,) as well as landscapes, local buildings, village streets, and the human figure.

Her works have been published in cards and calendars in B.C. and Ontario, and are viewed  in homes  from Canada to Australia.

June Swanky Parker  has also been teaching classes in watercolour for several years,  for the Prince George Artist’s Workshop, the College of New Caledonia, and the Two Rivers Art Gallery of Prince George.  Small classes are also offered in her studio in downtown Prince George, known as “Upstairs Art.”
